In those days Cairns had around 55,000 people. Today the population is over 150,000 and growing at a faster rate than almost any other city in Australia. Over half of this increased population are now living on the south side of Cairns in the area from Gordonvale to Mt Sheridan.

Cairns is a thriving city located in the wet tropics area of Far North Queensland. By road it is some 1800km to Brisbane. It is serviced by the fifth busiest airport in Australia with both international and domestic flights and is base for the large number of tourist boats that visit the Great Barrier Reef each day.

The region has more 5 star accommodation than any city in Australia except Sydney and Melbourne. There is a casino, a hundred plus restaurants and nightlife in abundance for those who like the bright lights. Exotic celebrity destinations such as Port Douglas and Lizard Island are serviced from Cairns.

Tropical Blooms is situated in the centre of the main southern growth corridor of this thriving city. Because of the surrounding world heritage listed mountain rainforest areas all future growth is restricted to the north and south of Cairns. This has tended to stretch the growth out and makes land close to the city centre very hard to find. Our location just 18 minutes from the city centre guarantees strong capital gains potential into the future.

The satellite photo above shows how strategically located the property is. Just minutes away are Mt Sheridan, Edmonton and Gordonvale all of which have major shopping centres with supermarkets, schools, doctors, dentists, post offices, and banks.

Tropical Blooms is located on Warner Rd (also known as Yarrabah Rd which is the name of the community the road services). This is a major auxiliary two lane bitumen road with power, water and garbage services. We are 2.5 km from the main highway into Cairns. A school bus service runs past the door and a bus service to Cairns on the highway.

Four minutes down the road is a major boat ramp which is part of the Cairns inlet. It is a one hour boat ride to the reef with its world class coral and fishing. In the other direction it is approximately 45 minutes up onto the cool Atherton Tablelands and Lake Tinnaroo which is approximately the size of Sydney harbour. This is a popular camping, fishing, water skiing and sailing destination. It holds the world record for the largest Barramundi ever caught.

World heritage rainforest covered mountains surround us and no matter which direction you look from the property you see these lush green mountains. In fact dominating the skyline just to the south of us are the two tallest mountains in Queensland.
