There are a number of reasons why Cairns is regarded as one of the premier tourist destinations in the world.

One of the main reasons is the exotic tropical climate. This is a climate that encourages outdoor living to the fullest. Relaxed entertaining, outdoor eating, all year swimming are all popular past times in this climate. Tourists pay big dollars to experience this lifestyle in the luxury resorts for a week or so.

Imagine being able to live your own tourism resort experience 24/7 all year round without leaving home. You can almost feel the stress leaving your body just thinking about it. We have experienced this lifestyle for the last 23 years. In fact our five children have grown up in what they call their personal resort.

Right from the very first planning of Tropical Blooms we have held lifestyle as a top priority. It would be silly to live in this part of the world and not take full advantage of what it offers.

Large resort style pool

First up was a large free form low maintenance saltwater pool. Fully landscaped with large mature palms for shade and many exotic plants this resort style pool has seen more use over the years than can be imagined. It is often the centre of activity for hours on end by both children and adults alike. The large rear verandah of the house where we eat most meals is only metres from the pool. Many an evening has been enjoyed on this verandah with friends while the children swam and played.

A big part of any healthy lifestyle is outdoor activity. Our full size grass tennis court compliments the pool in this area. Family tournaments have long been popular activities for ours and friends. The court has also doubled as a footy field, cricket pitch, golf practice area and much more over the years. Its the reason that we have always kept the grass surface rather than put in a fancy hard court. This grass court and outdoor lifestyle instilled a love of sport and healthy activity in our children that has become a part of their adult life. In fact one of them went on to play tennis professionally and travel the world. (None of them are champion computer games players though.) It is now starting to be used by our grandchildren.

Lifestyle is not all about outdoor activity though. Its also about entertaining friends and a relaxed family environment. Every good resort needs a recreation area. Ours is almost 100 sqm of enclosed room with multiple sets of casement windows down each side for air flow. An insulated ceiling and large ceiling fans keep this area cool. At one end is a full size billiard table (which is included in the sale).We are told this valuable billiard table was made in the early 50's from local Queensland cedar for the then mayor of Babinda. The other end has a large table and lounge area with bar, TV and games area. An adjacent BBQ compliments this room.
